The fare free transit study staff report (TR-02-24) will be received by Committee of the Whole on Dec. 2, 2024. The report and study details are available through the city's online meeting calendar at www.burlington.ca/meetings

Dawn and Tony provided an update:

  • Burlington Transit (BT) staff are preparing a new network map identifying routes that are 15 minutes or less as well as routes with GO Transit connections. BT is encouraging riders to use the Trip Planner App to determine best routes and best connections for their ride.  BT attempts to align as much as possible with GO bus and GO trains schedules.

The working group has launched the parent and guardian active transportation survey in the Halton public schools.  Surveys were sent to elementary school principals for distribution. Survey results and further discussion will take place at a future ITAC meeting.

No update at this time. In 2025, the Cycling Committee will be represented by Ellie Castonguay.

BSAC members were advised about the Respect the Space program led by the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee has submitted 12 recommendations about the Downtown Parking Plan to the city's Accessibility Coordinator and Transportation Planning staff.

Pat, on behalf of BAAC, encouraged ITAC members to take Respect the Space brochures and place them under vehicle windshields when they notice individuals parking in an accessible parking space without an accessible permit.  This continues to be an issue across the city and the BAAC campaign attempts to inform individuals of the impact of parking in an accessible parking spot without a permit.

Pat provided members with a draft 2024 annual report for their review and consideration. Upon review of the annual report, members passed the following motion:

MOTION: Accept the draft annual report with the opportunity to make clarifications to the content before submission in 2025.

Carried.

The Chair provided an outgoing message to the members.  Pat thanked members for their valued participation and personally acknowledged outgoing members and their contributions.

Chair adjourned the meeting at 8:55 a.m.
