Rob and Sriti are scheduled to meet with BPAC staff to finalize parking and technology details for the Sakura Festival. Residents from a local retirement home are expected to arrived by bus for the event. 37 student letters were received from Itabashi and delivered to students at M.M. Robinson. The Taste of Japan is being coordinated with Tourism Burlington from May 15-31. Joanna and Marybeth will participate on the Public Art panel for the twinning project at Spencer Smith park. 7.3Apeldoorn committee update: Anne provided the Apeldoorn subcommittee update: The CNFD program is finalized and includes music from the Teen Tour Band, remarks from both Mayors and the Consul General. There will also student art displayed and presentations by students at Nelson Highschool. The subcommittee continues to engage with the Burlington committee in Apeldoorn about a future citizen exchange. Cogeco - My Burlington program is interviewing students involved in past twin city student exchanges. The committee will be advised when the program airs. 7.4United nations subcommittee update: Joanna provided the UN subcommittee update: The subcommittee has offered to support Hayden High School students who are planning a model UN event. More information to come. The subcommittee will send delegates to the Halton Model UN conference to engage and network with students. The goal is to increase membership on the UN subcommittee with 3 members graduating this year. Chris, Hassan and Brett are in the preliminary stages of planning a youth ambassador program to align with Local Government week in October. UN subcommittee members will attend and support the CNFD and Sakura events on May 13th. Preliminary discussions underway for an event to mark UN day in October. Students on the UN subcommittee are attending UN meetings at Hayden High School as an opportunity to learn and use knowledge to build interest in Model UN at Nortre Dame and Central High Schools. 7.5Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) - gender equality and women in local government initiatives Councillor Nisan provided an overview of the initiative. PMI-WILL Partnerships for Municipal Innovation - Women in Local Leadership. Members considered whether this would provide an opportunity for a future twinning relationship. Members will continue to develop a framework and criteria for identifying future twinning opportunities. Paula, Chris and Brett will meet to discuss and bring information back to the committee for consideration and discussion.8.Other Business: Motion: to approve revised budget for 2023 in the amount of $21,100. Approved. Members discussed the opportunity to participate in the annual Burlington Food Truck Festival on July 28th, to promote the work of the Mundialization Committee.
