On motion, the minutes from the meeting held May 22, 2019 were approved as presented.

  • Kelly noted that items were included in her update that she thought would be of interest to the agricultural community and asked members if they had any comments or questions.
  • Kelly advised that there are several public engagement opportunities coming up regarding the CN-Milton Logistics Hub and noted she will email members the link to the website.
  • Kelly advised that the Province has resumed the Environmental Assessment for the GTA West Highway Corridor to examine long-term transportation needs across York, Peel and Halton Regions. Kelly noted that PIC's will be hosted in the Fall and she will email members the link to the website.
  • Vanessa noted the need to think about what needs to be protected and added that key features cannot get in the way of agriculture. She stated that key features should be more permissive at the Region and should be mapped properly.
  • Kelly noted if there are areas of conflict between current Regional Official Plan mapping and the new Provincial mapping for the Agricultural System for the GGH, that Provincial mapping takes precedence.
  • The committee worked through the Policy table and identified changes they would like to see in the Official Plan polices. Due to lack of time, members decided to have a subcommittee meet over the summer to identify further changes and then will forward document to Kelly in order for her to provide comments in preparation for the September meeting.
Motion - Establish a subcommittee to review the Official Plan policies over the summer.  CARRIED
  • Jo-Anne advised that the September meeting date has been changed from September 18 to September 24 and will be held at City Hall.
