New Street Pilot Project report going to Committee of the Whole meeting of November 27, 2017. Cycling giveaways ordered for next year - white and red lights, snap bracelets and Share the Road magnets. Still waiting to hear back from the Province regarding the commuter cycling funding. ACTION: Jo-Anne to ask Dan to email members information re: CanBike training.7.2Sub-committee updates:a.Communications & Events In Brad's absence, Don provided the following update: National Seniors' Day on October 2 at the Seniors' Centre went well - lots of giveaways and recumbent bikes for seniors to try out. Seven signed up for the Seniors Ride on October 26 - leaving from Roly Bird Park and heading along the hydro corridor. Signed up for Santa Claus parade on December 3 - begins at 2 p.m. More details will follow as they become available. Share the Road has reached out to committee to participate with Bike Rodeos at various schools throughout the city (Nov 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 15, 22, 29). Members to advise Jo-Anne of their availability. b.Infrastructure Chris provided the following update: Prioritizing roads in the rural area highlights the opportunity for multi-use paths or off road facilities. Depending on the outcome of the New Street Pilot report, may need to find data re: safety (accidents, injuries, fatalities), impact on travel time, impact on emergency services, impact on transit, and cyclist/pedestrian counts. Bay Street in Hamilton has bike lanes on both sides of the road similar to Cannon Street. ACTION: Jo-Anne to ask Dan re: date and should committee provide possible routes for ride with consultant.8.Other Business: Don advised that he, Dan and Jo-Anne met with the supplier for giveaways and would like to submit an order for bags, sunglasses and bells. On motion, the committee approved an expenditure of approximately $2,200 to purchase giveaways to distribute at community events. Don advised that he has a conflict with the November meeting date and asked if the date could be changed to November 21. On motion, the committee agreed to change the next meeting from November 28 to the 21. Jo-Anne advised of an opportunity for members to participate in a meeting on November 7 with Oakville and Hamilton cycle groups. Claudia and Dave expressed interest. Jo-Anne advised that she and Dan met with Communications staff regarding messaging on proper etiquette and safety practices when using a multi-use path.
