Kate White declared an interest regarding item 8.1 Friends of Heritage Burlington as it concerns a family member.

Motion: Approve the minutes of the October 10, 2017 Heritage Burlington meetings, CARRIED.

Councillor Taylor appeared before the committee requesting support for the restoration of the Lowville school house. Councillor Taylor informed the committee that he will be seeking funding in the city's budget meetings for the restoration.

Motion: Direct the chair of Heritage Burlington to write a letter supporting the heritage preservation and renovation of Lowville school house, CARRIED.

Peter Marit appeared before the committee to request support in the removal of his property, 4210 Inglewood, from the list of designated heritage properties.

The committee discussed the merit of the designation and asked questions of the heritage planner. The committee agreed that the chair would submit comments to the heritage planner for inclusion in the report.

Motion: Heritage Burlington supports the application to repeal by-law 4-2008 which designates 4210 Inglewood Drive and remove the property from the municipal register, CARRIED.

Kate provided an update that the house has been demolished.

The committee discussed prevention of demolition of heritage properties and what could be done in the future to change the outcome.

Thomas advised the committee that he had spoken with the congregation and that the church had been too severely damaged in the August fire for the building to be saved.

Kate has reached out to the church, but has not received a response.

Committee discussed a heritage permit and grant application for 2222 Lakeshore Road.

Motion: Heritage Burlington supports the approval of a heritage permit for 2222 Lakeshore Road, CARRIED.

Motion: Heritage Burlington supports the issuance of a grant from the Community Heritage Fund for 25% of project costs to a maximum of $15 000 for painting and for restoration of chimney and woodwork at 2222 Lakeshore Road, CARRIED.

Thomas provided an update on the revisions staff made to the proposed official plan as a result of Heritage Burlington's comments on the first draft. Committee members should submit any additional comments to Kate and she will forward comments to staff if necessary.

Committee will be running the wagon ride at the Old Fashioned Christmas event on November 19.

Maggie, Howard, Michele and Jeff will attend the event.

Committee is looking for a realtor to speak at the event.

Committee members are working with Burlington Historical Society on content.

Committee members are reviewing the content.

The plaque was unveiled in October and will be installed in the spring.

The committee discussed the Friends of Heritage Burlington (FOHB) trust that has been set up through the Burlington Community Foundation.

The committee requested more detailed information on the trust and debated what the relationship should be between the committee and the trust.

The committee recognized that Ken White has provided a great deal of time and support to establish the trust and appreciates all of his hard work.

The committee formed a subcommittee to evaluate the trust and provide recommendations to the committee. Subcommittee members include Sharon, Pauline, John, Maggie, Councillor Meed Ward, and Thomas Douglas.

Motion: Establish a subcommittee to determine the desired relationship of the Friends of Heritage Burlington Trust with the Heritage Burlington Committee, investigate legal requirements, meet with founder Ken White, and meet with Burlington Foundation; and

Direct the subcommittee to report back to Heritage Burlington with recommendations, CARRIED.

Motion: Direct the vice-chair to write a letter to Friends of Heritage Burlington requesting that the words "Heritage Burlington" be removed from the name, remove staff and committee member's names from the website, and remove all material related to Heritage Burlington from the website, CARRIED.
