Michael Otter (Project Manager - Engineering Services) Renovation and conservation of former Robert Bateman High School

Michael provided a presentation and answered questions from the committee regarding the renovations of former Robert Bateman.

The committee did a round table of introductions of new and existing members and welcomed new members to the committee.

8.1

Accessibility progress report

Judi advised the committee that she is currently preparing an accessibility progress report which is a requirement under the AODA.  Judi is currently preparing the report for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.  Judi will send a copy of the draft report to committee members, please provide comments and feedback.  Discussion of the report will be included on the agenda for the April meeting.

Discussion of this item was deferred to the April meeting.

Coordinator's report

Judi answered the following questions related to the Coordinator' report:

Are the city of Burlington Budget books accessible?  Yes, they are produced by Questica which is accessible.

Do we know when the Mobi Mats will be installed at Beachway park?  No, when the park opens, Judi will get in touch with Roads, Parks and Forestry staff to see what the timeline is for installation.

Accessible Housing

Judi advised the committee that the issue of accessible housing is getting some attention due to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) releasing standards for affordable, accessible, and adaptive homes.  Residential Design Guide was also released for residential buildings.  Next step will be to wait and see if these standards are included in the updated Nation Building Code which would inform the Ontario Building Code.

No update at this time, the subcommittee will look to have a meeting in the next few weeks.
