Rob engaged the committee in a sounding board discussion regarding the following:

  • Age to participate in subsidies in regards to recreation programming: There is inconsistency in the age required by the Recreation, Community and Cultural department to participate in programs and to participate in subsidy programs. Currently there are three age groups ranging from 55-65+ years of age, depending on the program. The committee provided input on if the city should look to make the age consistent or if there should be differing ages for a subsidy.
  •  Input on the seniors' centre membership program: The seniors' centre membership program has been on hiatus during COVID, however as the city gets back to regular operations they are looking to see if a membership in the Burlington seniors centre should be required in order to participate in programs. The membership is $40 and there are approximately 4000 members. Members provided their input on this program.
