Jackie provided the following updates:

  • On Friday attending the Cycling Tourism Summit.
  • May 4 is the Trail of Two Cities ride starting at 10:30 a.m. at LaSalle Park.
  • The city is once again hosting/promoting 101 day June 1.  Does the committee want to do anything for this initiative?  The activities has to be free for the public. Please send any good ideas to Jackie.
  • Discussion around doing ward rides again.  The committee will try to arrange a ward ride in each ward or possibly combine wards with the councilor and invite the community in the month of June since June is bike month.
  • Jackie to draft a letter to be sent as an invite to councillors.
  • Brett, Jeffrey and Kinsey to come up with a route for wards 3 & 6, Jackie for wards 1 & 2, Teresa and James for wards 4 & 5.
  •  The Ontario bike summit on April 1 & 2 early bird registration deadline is Feb 28.  On motion, the committee approved to pay the registration fee for one member to attend the summit.  Action:  Suzanne to send out an email to the committee members asking if anyone can attend.
  • Discussion regarding the City of Burlington budget and items related to cycling.
  • The committee submitted a delegation to council supporting items related to cycling.
  • Discussion around a possible motion for a Bike Share program

Dan provided the following updates:

  • Reminder of the North Burlington Active Transportation workshop on March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Conservation Halton.
  • Cycling Master Plan has received comments from staff.  Timing for the report to go to council is still being discussed.
  • Resurfacing of Lakeshore Road from Nelson to just west Brant Street will be happening this year.  On road bike lanes with a half a meter buffer with potential for buffered bike lanes.
  • Climate Change Summit March 26, - 28.  March 28 will have a focus on health and active transportation, cycling, and where we are headed in the next 5 years.
  • Attended the Biking Beyond the Downtown workshop and gave an update on what was discussed.
  • The Bike map from 2016 needs updating.  Dan will be doing the updates and sharing with the committee when completed.

Chair adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
