Approval of minutes from the meeting held on April 16, 2021

On MOTION, the minutes from the meeting held on April 16, 2021 were approved. CARRIED

Inclusivity Committee Sounding Board: Burlington Seniors’ Centre Membership, Mandy Kerr, Supervisor of Recreation (Adult Programs)

Mandy Kerr presented and asked the committee for their feedback on streamlining recreation service rates and fees including the concept of requiring additional membership fees. These items link to the finding from community engagement in the Active Action Plan an age-friendly initiative for all residents of Burlington and developed to reduce barriers to participation for older adults in particular. Typical models based on age-related discounting and on subsidy based on circumstance where discussed. The stakeholder input from several key groups related to inclusivity and older adults will guide future recommendations in this area.

MOTION: Authorize the Vice Chair of BIA to delegate regarding BIA support of Pride Month at the May 18, 2021 Council meeting. CARRIED

Workplan and Budget 2021

MOTION: Committee approved the 2021 BIAC Workplan CARRIED 

The workplan will be brought to the Corporate Services, Strategy, Risk and Accountability Committee meeting of June 7, 2021 in report CL-18-21.

Kumkum spoke of the new virtual book club, in partnership with the Halton Equity and Diversity Roundtable (HEDR), Halton Hills Public Library and Milton Public Library. For more  Information
