​On motion, the minutes of the January 9, 2017 meeting were approved as presented.

Visited7.1Code of Conduct Review 

  • ​​Danielle Manton, Manager of Election and Committee Services, provided a review of the Code of Conduct for committee members and she and Jo-Anne facilitated a discussion and answered questions surrounding the recent resignation of a BSAC member.


Action:
Councillor Meed Ward, Tom, Bonnie and Jo-Anne to meet with the member to discuss and ask him to reconsider.

  • ​Jessica Wesolowski, Supervisor of Festivals & Events, provided an overview on how events are delivered in Burlington and their 2017 work plan. Jessica briefly highlighted the Events Strategy and Love My Hood program. (see attached)
  • Mandy Newnham, Supervisor of Recreation, provided an overview of her 2017 priorities, related themes, initiatives and how they link to the Recreation Framework. (see attached)

  • ​​Jo-Anne distributed the 2016 BSAC Annual Report to committee and asked members to review and provide comment to her via email. It is scheduled to go to the May 1, 2017 Committee of the Whole meeting.
Visited7.4BSAC representative on BIAC,  ITAC and Emergency Management Citizen Advisory Group 
  • Jim advised that a BSAC representative is required on the Burlington Inclusivity Advisory Committee (BIAC), Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC), Integrated Transportation Advisory Committee (ITAC) and the Emergency Management Advisory Group. The following members expressed interest:
    • Susan - BIAC
    • April - BAAC
    • Tom - ITAC
    • Bonnie - Emergency Management Advisory Group

Jo-Anne to provide meeting details to members.
Visited7.5BSAC participation re: Official Plan Review and Climate Change Workshop 
  • ​​Jim advised that requests were received for BSAC's participation in the Official Plan Review and two Climate Change Workshops (Mar 8 and 29). The following members expressed an interest:
    • Official Plan Review - Sheila
    • Climate Change (Mar 8) - Sheila
    • Climate Change (Mar 29) - Susan

Action:
Jo-Anne to forward details to Sheila and Susan.
Visited8.Other Business:
  • ​​Jim advised that he was invited by Mayor Goldring to attend a roundtable discussion on seniors' housing in Burlington on February 24 with the Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, who requested to learn more about issues, ideas and initiatives of importance to the people of Burlington. Following the discussion, Mayor Goldring announced that he will be forming a one-year task force to address the issue of seniors' housing in Burlington. Jim noted that BSAC will be a part of this task force.
