  • The committee completed the workbook for "Grow Bold Burlington" that will be reviewed by the city’s planning department staff when creating the new Official Plan.  Current pictures and artist renderings of what the four targeted growth areas (Mobility Hubs, Uptown, Urban Corridors and Neighbourhood Plazas) could look like in 20+ years were reviewed. Some of the committee's comments that would make future growth better were:
    • safe passage for cyclists/pedestrians over the QEW and 403
    • make mobility hubs inter-connected with active transportation
    • protected bike lanes
    • Bike Share Program
    • focus on pedestrian/cycling friendly
    • improve paved shoulders in rural Burlington for both cycling and walking
    • bike paths for all ages and abilities to connect rural Burlington with Milton and Waterdown
    • keep rural Burlington rural.

Action:  Jo-Anne to submit feedback by the deadline of June 30.

  • The committee completed the workbook for "Go Bold Burlington" that will be reviewed by the city’s transportation services department staff when creating a new Transportation Plan.  With the idea of making streets interesting "people places", current pictures and artist renderings of what the Intensification Corridor (Brant looking south from Ghent Avenue) and Neighbourhood Plazas (Guelph Line looking north from New Street) could look like in 20+ years were reviewed. Some of the committee's comments that would transform the way we get around in Burlington were:
    • protected bike lanes
    • clear signage and lighting on multi-use paths
    • vehicles yield to pedestrians and cyclists
    • Bike Share program
    • fast and frequent transit routes
    • pedestrian/cycling bridge over major highways
    • paved shoulders and trails in rural area.

Action:  Jo-Anne to submit feedback by the deadline of June 30.
