Kristin read the land acknowledgement.

On motion, the minutes from the meeting held November 29, 2021, were approved as presented. 

Emilie introduced herself to the committee as this was her first meeting with BSAC. As of January 31, 2022 it was the first day of recreation programming after the closure. Emilie will provide further updates to committee at the February 28, 2022 meeting. 

Kristin shared the draft 2021 Annual Report prior to the meeting and via zoom and committee was able to voice any changes prior to approval.

Motion: Approve the Burlington Seniors' Advisory Committee 2021 Annual Report. APPROVED

Kristin shared the draft 2022 Workplan prior to the meeting and via zoom and committee was able to voice any changes prior to approval.

Motion: Approve the Burlington Seniors' Advisory Committee 2022 Workplan. APPROVED

Kristin shared that the BSAC recruitment panel was just finishing up recruitment for 2022. The successful applicants names will be submitted via a report to council on February 15, 2022. Once approved, Kristin will be notifying applicants of the outcome. New members will be joining the committee at the February 28, 2022 BSAC meeting where we will have an orientation session. 

Deepti informed the committee that Heather Westhaver will become the Burlington Public Library representative for BSAC starting at the February 2022 BSAC meeting. 

Updates at the library include:

  • The Alton branch is now re-opened
  • Library services remain the same. Residents are able to visit, browse and make holds over the phone and via the website. 

No updates were available as of this meeting. John will update the committee at the February 28, 2022 meeting.
