Check their website for up-to-date information.8.2Council and Staff updates: a.Councillor Sharman Councillor Sharman provided the following updates: the Halton Official Plan and Integrated Growth Plan report went to Region Council (Suzanne to share the link) suggested checking out a publication by Michael Moffett regarding the housing market, aging population and demand (Suzanne to share the link) b.Lynn Robichaud - Sustainability Lynn provided the following updates: the annual report for the Climate Action Plan will be going to the Environment, Infrastructure and Community Services Committee meeting on June 10, this is the first year the City is part of the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy and will be reporting through the carbon disclosure program staff are working on finalizing an RFP to hire a consultant to support the Climate Adaptation Plan and at the same time working with staff to review climate impact statements used to identify risk which leads to mitigation tactics The Mayor and Council received correspondence from 'Bird Friendly Cites' that provided recommendations on becoming a bird friendly community - the awareness committee will discuss and bring it back to the COW if they feel we should invite them to speak at a meeting c.Laura Ross - Community Planning a.Regional Official Plan Review 48 and Integrated Growth Management Strategy Laura provided a presentation and answered committee questions. Suzanne to send the link to the online survey, the deadline to complete is May 28. Laura to provide map and report to Suzanne to circulate to the committee. Add this item to the agenda for the next meeting.b.Sustainable Building and Development Guidelines & Green Roof staff direction Laura provided a presentation and answered committee questions. The committee discussed different options for enforcing the Sustainable Building guidelines including making voluntary guidelines part of reports to council, non financial incentives (expedited approval process, urban design awards - sustainable category, sustainability being a baseline for any award), green standards similar to the City of Toronto with a tiered approach, advocating for a Regional approach, and advocating for changes to the Ontario Building Code when it is updated.8.3Business arising from the minutes: a.Year end report (2020) and 2021 objectives There were no updates, Tim has sent the final report to Suzanne. Suzanne will connect with Tim to assign budget amounts to the 2021 objectives.8.4Policy & Development subcommittee update: Dave B provided the following updates: Dave B will be the Chair of the subcommittee with Mathew taking on co-chair responsibilities already discussed and approved the 2021 objectives for the subcommittee planning a working session with the City of Burlington planning department for the next subcommittee meeting 8.5Awareness subcommittee update: Susan provided the following updates: Susan will be the Chair of the subcommittee, still need a co-chair so if anyone is interested please let Susan know the 2021 objects were discussed and finalized (approved earlier in this meeting) discussed what could be possible for spring events? Talked about an event about electric vehicles, possibly with Plug and Drive, the Library is interested in hosting this event. Other suggestions for webinars were 'living with coyotes' and 'use of plastics' for fall events discussed if it would be possible for the committee to engage the community using something similar to what the Town of Oakville has called the Goose Game app. Suzanne will follow up with Recreation staff as they do community challenges, maybe SDC can partner or provided environmental challenges to be incorporated with what they are already doing. can the coyotes video be available on the SDC webpage? Is there money available for committee members to attend webinars? Suzanne confirmed that there is money available.
