Georgie welcomed new members and all participated in roundtable introductions.

Georgie provided an introduction to advisory committees for new members. This included: the role advisory committees play, the terms of reference, how to stay informed, and roles on the committee. 

A city orientation session for all advisory committee members is scheduled on March 31, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. The session will provide an overview of the city’s organizational structure, goals and policies. Further details will be provided to committee members.

Mandy introduced the Burlington Active Aging Plan to new members. This included information regarding: recreation programming, opportunities for residents, community outreach, the demographic shifts and societal trends in the City of Burlington, and key focus areas of transportation, outdoor spaces, opportunities to work, access to information and socialization. 

On motion, April Begg Goodis and Jim Young were elected as Chair and Vice Chair, respectively of the Burlington Seniors' Advisory Committee, for the term to expire December 31, 2021.

On motion, John Kalbfleisch was appointed as the Burlington Seniors' Advisory Committee representative for the Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee. 

This item was deferred to the next meeting. 

On motion, Jim Young was appointed as the Burlington Seniors' Advisory Committee representative for the Burlington Inclusivity Advisory Committee. 

Deepti gave an update on library services during COVID and informed that cognitive care kits can now be put on hold at the library by calling the library for access to this service. Informed that the easiest way to receive updates is through online newsletters. Those interested can sign up on Burlington Public Library's website. 

No update was available. 

Jim shared that at the Burlington Inclusivity Advisory Committee meeting on February 19 2021, city staff attended to seek feedback on the Naming Policy for corporate assets. 

April discussed providing recognition for those who have been involved in advisory committees in the past
